Obituary

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Edith M. Rundell, 90, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

Edith was born on April 3, 1935, in Ironwood, a daughter of Julius and Ruby (Kent) Vandenberg. She attended St. Ambrose Catholic Grade School and Central Elementary School, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School. Edith worked at the Royal Bakery in Ironwood. She married her high school sweetheart, Russell L. Rundell, on Nov. 27, 1954. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Edith was a long-time member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood.

Edith took great pleasure in raising her family, especially in being a grandmother and great-grandmother ("GG"). Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She and Russ spent many summers camping at Lake Gogebic with their two granddaughters. After Russ retired, they took many trips to Branson, Missouri, often to celebrate Veterans Day. Edith enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, sewing and needlework. Each year, her granddaughters looked forward to receiving a new pair of Christmas pajamas that she lovingly made just for them.

She was a gentle and kind lady who will be greatly missed.

Edith is survived by her two children: son, Joseph, and daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Warrick, both of Ironwood; two cherished granddaughters, Amy Warrick (Mark Malmberg), Bessemer, and Amber (Evan) Osterhoudt, Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and their children, Annalise, Harper and Russell; two dear step-grandchildren, Vikki Warrick (Todd Fromberg), Duluth, Minnesota, and Shawn (Chelsea) Warrick, Des Moines, Washington, and their children, Parker and Daphne; a sister, Karen (Robert) Smith, Ironwood; her sister-in-law, Adele Vandenberg, Ironwood; her brother-in-law, James Rundell, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leo and Carol Rundell, Green River, Wyoming; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Russell, on Nov. 25, 2019; a brother, Henry Vandenberg; a nephew, Eugene Vandenberg; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.
