WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Earla Jean Steers, 85, of Wakefield, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Earla was born on May 25, 1940, in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of the late Beryl E. and Isabelle T. (Forrester) Tuthill. She attended Dexter High School and graduated in 1958.

Earla enjoyed many outdoor activities including gardening, farming and fishing. She also took pleasure in bird watching and sewing. Most of all, Earla loved spending time with her family and friends.

Earla leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and beautiful memories. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Earla is survived by her husband of 67 years, Leon; three children, Toni (Ed) Hayes, Laureen (Bill) Widmoyer and Kurt Steers (Cheryl); 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

There will be no funeral service.

The family would like to thank Aspirus Ironwood Hospice for their professionalism and care to Earla, and the countless friends who helped her throughout the years.
