BESSEMER, Mich. – Doris M. Scavarda, 89, a longtime resident of Bessemer, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

Doris was born on April 24, 1932, in Milwaukee. She attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer and graduated in 1951.

Doris worked for Ray Barbacovi and Art Stancher at the HiWay 2 Super Valu in Bessemer for more than 20 years.

She was a faithful member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, helped with the church pasty sales and volunteered at the St. Vincent De Paul Store.

Doris loved all children and animals, especially puppies. They held a very special place in her heart.

Doris is survived by her loving companion of more than 60 years, Benedict Cvengros; the Guglielmotto family; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her siblings.

Rite of Committal will be held Tuesday, May 25, at 1 p.m., at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, with the Rev. Binu Joseph, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, presiding.

Interment will follow.
