Doris (Hudec) LaRock

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Doris (Hudec) LaRock, 93, of Melbourne, formerly a longtime resident of Marenisco, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022.

Doris was born on March 2, 1929, in Marenisco, a daughter of Peter and Blanch (Smith) Hudec. She attended Marenisco High School and graduated in 1948.

On April 30, 1949, Doris was united in marriage to Donald E. LaRock at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Marenisco.

Together, they owned and operated Don's Bar and Café.

Doris was a faithful member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, where she served as past president of the altar society and taught catechism classes. Doris was a supporting member of the PTO, the Royal Neighbors, the Marenisco American Legion Post 523 Auxiliary, the Chamber of Commerce and the Sportsmen's Club. She enjoyed being a member of the birthday club.

To many senior citizens, Doris was known as a true friend and a very special caregiver, who assisted when called upon. She volunteered at weddings and funerals and with hot lunch and meals on wheels programs.

Most of all, she loved her family unconditionally, especially her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Doris is survived by a son, David (Janet); two cherished granddaughters, Shannon (Rob) Peterson and Billie Rae (Joe) Thoma; three precious great-grandchildren, Austin and Saundra Libertoski and Raeanna Thoma; her sister-in-law, Mildred Hudec; and several dear nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Don, on Feb. 20, 2006; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Don (Pat) Hudec, Clifford (Rose) Hudec, Murle (Betty) Hudec and Dale Hudec; and two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Eleanor (Harry) Tallquist and Polly (Clifford) Diotte.

Per Doris' wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 806 Putnam St., in Wakefield, Michigan. The Rev. Dominic Agyapong, pastor of St. Catherine Catholic Church, will preside.

Rite of Committal for Doris and Don LaRock will take place following the service at the Marenisco Cemetery. Interment will follow.
