LAKE GOGEBIC, Mich. – Donald E. Praay, age 80, of Lake Gogebic, formerly of Saginaw, went to be with the Lord, Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at his home.
Don was born on Oct. 8, 1935, in Saginaw, a son of Theo and Nellie (Ecker) Praay.
On June 25, 1955, he was united in marriage to Kathleen "Ginger" Parent in Saginaw.
Don worked as a millwright at Saginaw Malleable Plant for 35 years and retired in 1980. For more than five years, he was a special deputy for the Saginaw County Sheriff's Department.
He was a member of the Saginaw Moose Lodge 82, and for 26 years was a member of the Saginaw American Legion Post 22.
Following retirement, Don and Ginger moved and built their dream home on beautiful Lake Gogebic.
His hobbies included all outdoors sports and watching NASCAR on television.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Ginger; two daughters, Deborah (Ed) Yuker, North Webster, Ind., and Cynthia (Brad) Bonk, Clarkston; four grandchildren, Jason (Jackie) Timmerman and Theo Timmerman, both of Warsaw, Ind., and Meghan Bonk and Ryan Bonk, both of Clarkston; six great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; four step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral services and interment will be held in Saginaw.
Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield and W.L. Case Funeral Home in Saginaw are assisting the family.
