IRONWOOD, Mich. – Dennis John Gayan, 76, of Ironwood, formerly of Bessemer, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.

Dennis was born on Feb. 24, 1950, in Wakefield, a son of John William and Margaret Theresa (Tarnaski) Gayan. He attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer and graduated in 1968.

Following graduation, Dennis proudly served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Dennis worked in construction, and in his spare time enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Dennis is survived by two sisters, Christine (James) Barry and Carolyn (Jeff) Pikka; a brother, Tom (LeeAnn) Gayan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John Jr. and David Gayan.

At the family's request, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.

The family acknowledges with heartfelt appreciation the care and attention provided to Dennis by the staff and caregivers at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood, and at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
