WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Dennis Owen "Bubba" LaMaide, 68, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022.
Dennis was born on Feb. 26, 1954, in Wakefield, a son of Sylvia Ann (Magnuson) and Maxin G. LaMaide Sr. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1972.
Dennis was a chef in Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. He returned to Wakefield at which time he became a food service supervisor at the Michigan Department of Corrections Camp Ojibway/Ojibway Correctional Facility until his retirement.
Dennis enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was the life of the party and he had a way of making people laugh. He was an avid fisherman and loved to tinker with his boats. In the winter months, Dennis was a snowbird and spent his time in Oklahoma.
He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield.
Dennis is survived by a son, Edward (April); two grandsons, Alexander and Xavier; his mother, Sylvia; two brothers, Daniel (Jean) and Maxin Jr. "Mickey;" two sisters, Yvonne "Cookie" (Jon) White and Cheri (Dave) Brentar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his sister-in-law, Norma LaMaide.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Lauri Maki officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mark, Cade, Joshua, Tanner, Annie, David and Jayden.
A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
A committal service and interment will take place at the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, in the spring.
