Debra Jean
(Upton) Langdon
January 20, 1954 – November 7, 2018
BESSEMER, Mich. – Debra Jean (Upton) Langdon, 64, of Bessemer, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018.
Debra was born on Feb. 2, 1954, at Divine Infant Hospital in Wakefield, the daughter of Lawrence Wesley and Jean Lorraine (Hoffner) Upton. She graduated from A.D. Johnston High School with the class of 1972. Debra continued her education for two years at Gogebic Community College and graduated with an associate of arts degree. She attended Northern Michigan University for two and a half years, graduating in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in special education and psychology. Debra attained further graduate level credits from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, studying the emotionally disturbed thus adding to her educational background. She also attained a one year certificate from GCC in automobile mechanics.
In August 1994, Debra was united in marriage to Greg Langdon at Black River Harbor.
Debra was very honored to have cared for her terminally ill father until his death in 1999. She often remarked that it was a blessing to do so. Debra was employed at Southside K-6 School in Hurley for three years. She concluded her working career as a library clerk at Bessemer Public Library. Her illness caused Debra to retire early.
She is survived by one aunt, many cousins and close friends, who were like family. Although Debbie did not have any children or grandchildren, she was blessed by a dear family whose children made her feel special by calling her grandma. Thank you!
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband, Greg, in 2014.
A graveside service will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer, in the spring.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield. Condolences may be expressed online at lakesidememorialchapel.com.
