Dean Dalbec,
Md
April 13, 1953 – May 4, 2023
|
Dr. Dean Dalbec passed away on May 4, 2023, at the age of 70 years old, at his home in Shelby Twp., MI, surrounded by his wife and children. After battling chronic illness for several years, and a recent cancer diagnosis, he is now at peace. Dean was born on April 13, 1953, in Ironwood, MI, to Elfreedor (Frick) and Mayme Dalbec. As a child of the UP, he had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed skiing, fishing, and hunting. These interests stayed with him throughout his life, but he was most known for his love of cooking for friends and family. Holidays and dinner parties at the Dalbec's were always highly anticipated, with good people and even better food. Dean pursued his undergraduate studies at Northern Michigan University and went on to study medicine at Wayne State University. He had a career in Emergency Medicine that spanned more than 40 years, with most of his career spent in the Beaumont Health System at the Royal Oak and Troy locations. He also served as the medical director of the Emergency departments at Saratoga Hospitals in Detroit and Crittenton Hospital in Rochester. Dean was an active member of the medical control boards of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties and helped to facilitate EMS care in his career. He touched the lives of many patients and staff during his years as a physician, and his contributions will not be forgotten. Dean is survived by his wife, Holly, daughter, Dr. Kathryn Ziegler (Dr. Matthew Ziegler), and sons, Jason Vinson (Kelly), Jared Vinson (Amy), Alexander Neal, and Andrew Neal. Grandchildren Tyler Vinson, Trent Vinson, Tate Vinson, Grace Vinson, Carter Vinson, Campbell Vinson, Michael Ziegler and Emily Ziegler. He is also survived by his brothers Darrol (Carol) and David (Susan) who still reside in their hometown of Wakefield, MI and will welcome him home at his funeral with many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends that were always so important to him. Dean's family and loved ones take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and is finally at peace. They know that family, friends, and those who knew him well are lining the halls of heaven to welcome him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 11, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 407 Ascherman St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Dominic Agyapong, celebrant. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield. Luncheon will be served in the church hall immediately upon return from the cemetery. Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family with arrangements.
