WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Craig Elden Honkala, 68, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away Saturday morning, July 27, 2019.

Craig was born on March 22, 1951, in Bessemer Township, the son of Elden J. and Signe M. (Salear) Honkala. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1969. Craig continued his education at Northern Michigan University and earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1974.

Craig is survived by a cousin, Dennis (Renae) Borowski, Apple Valley, Minn.

He was predeceased by his father, Elden, on April 17, 1992; and his mother, Signe, on July 16, 2005.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m., at the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield. The Rev. Bill Jacobson, pastor of All Saints Lutheran Church, will officiate.

Following the committal service and interment, a luncheon will be served at the American Legion Geroux Post 11, 605 River St., Wakefield.
