RAMSAY, Mich. – Constance Fern "Connie" Sandquist, 86, a longtime resident of Ramsay, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Nov. 23, 2013.
Connie was born on Aug. 27, 1927, in Ironwood, the daughter of James Francis and Mildred Leolla (Bowker) Delmet. She grew up in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School with the class of 1945.
On June 29, 1946, Connie was united in marriage to Fred Sandquist.
They made their home in Ramsay and celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing in 1998.
She was a perfect and loving wife, mother and friend. Connie always had a smile, enjoyed life and never had a negative word to say about anyone.
Her hobbies included gardening, knitting and traveling with Fred to see hundreds of country music shows.
Connie and Fred worked at Big Powderhorn Mountain during the 1990s.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (John) Lesky; two sons, Fred Jr. (Charli) and Scott; 10 grandchildren, Eric Sandquist, Bradley Londo, Mariah and Trenton, Deanna Murphy, Christin Pribek, Derrick, Stacey and Justin Sandquist and Amber Sandquist; 17 great-grandchildren; and many friends at Gogebic Medical Care Facility, where she resided for the past few years.
Besides her husband, Connie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mildred; her stepfather, George Grigson; two grandsons, Brian Londo and Freddy Sandquist III; a granddaughter, Becky Londo; and a brother, James Delmet.
Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of Connie's life will be announced at a later date.
Burial will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer, in the spring.
