WAUSAU, Wis. – Carol Joyce Plumley, 73, of Wakefield, Mich., died peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2012, under the loving care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, in Wausau.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1938, at Divine Infant Hospital in Wakefield, the daughter of William Herman and Eileen Margaret (Hongisto) Koski. Carol was a 1956 graduate of Wakefield High School.
She was employed by the state of Illinois Department of Human Services in Waukegan, and retired in 1999. Following her retirement, Carol moved back to Wakefield.
She was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, its Bible study group, the Women's Peace Circle, the Wakefield Senior Citizens Center and the Wakefield Historical Society.
Carol enjoyed going to her class reunions to see and be with her classmates. On occasion, she went to the casino with several of her classmates and other friends.
Her hobbies included reading, playing smear with her smear buddies, watching the deer and birds (especially the hummingbirds in the summer) and feeding the ducks by her home.
Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a lady who looked forward to family visits and will be sadly missed.
Carol is survived by her three children, Brian (Melissa) Plumley, Kenosha, Colleen (David) McPherson, Zion, Ill., and Michael (Melissa) Plumley, Wilmot; three grandchildren, Christine Plumley, Wadsworth, Ill., and Jessica and Morgan Plumley, Wilmot; a great-grandson, Trent Fink, Wadsworth; a great-great-grandson, Bentley Fink, Wadsworth; two brothers, Roger (Barbara) Koski, Eau Claire, and Kris (Jean) Koski, Kingsford, Mich.; a sister, Geraldine (Ronald) Kremposki, Ironwood, Mich.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, William, on March 5, 1986; her mother, Eileen, on July 3, 2002; and a nephew, Randall Armedas Kremposki, on Dec. 7, 2001.
Carol's family would like to thank everyone who assisted her throughout the past years during her illnesses. We are truly grateful.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, June 2, at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam St., Wakefield, from 10 to 11 a.m., where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Peggy Rose officiating.
A lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall.
Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery.
