Obituary

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Carol C. Davidson, 75, died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at home in Round Rock.

She was born on April 17, 1937, in Wakefield, Mich., to John and Ruth (Nyberg) Salmela. Carol attended Wakefield schools and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1955.

On July 23, 1955, she was united in marriage with Bruce Davidson in Ishpeming, Mich.

Seven children were born to Carol and Bruce. Their children are Bruce, Round Rock, Cynthia (Larry) Evitts, Gurnee, Ill., Ruth Ward, Jacksonville, Fla., Kathy Webb, Seymour, Tenn., Thomas, Gurnee, Paula (Karl) Richards, Prairie du Sac, Wis., and John, Jacksonville. Carol was grandmother to Marsha, Matt, Michelle and Michael Davidson, Sam Balmes, Bryan, Brittany and Benjimen Ward, Rhonda Webb, Melissa and Amanda Richards, Christopher and Amanda Talley and Joshua Davidson; and she was great-grandmother to 14. Carol is also survived by her brother, Robert (Judy) Salmela, Plover, Wis.; nieces, Diane (Patrick) Rice and Janine (the late Alan) Johns, both of Ishpeming, and Kristin Miller, Wildwood, Ill.

Carol loved to cook for family and friends. She made friends wherever she went, and leaves many, many friends who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, in 1997; brothers, Richard, in 1998, and Paul, in 1964; sons-in-law, Kevin Balmes, in 1987, David Frank, in 1991, and David Webb, in 2011. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Andrew Rautiola, in 1986.

Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday, Dec., 23, at Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Heikkinen officiating.

A spring burial will be conducted at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, where Carol will be buried next to Bruce.
