WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Brian Yatchak, 72, of Wakefield, found his final "Peace In The Valley" at his home overlooking Sunday Lake Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, surrounded by the love which was the essence of his life.
He was born Oct. 26, 1939, to Isadore and Clara (Lepisto) Yatchak. Attending Wakefield schools, Brian graduated with the class of 1957.
Always musically talented, he and three friends formed Wakefield's first rock band, the Aristocats, and once performed at a function attended by then Gov. G. Mennen Williams.
Brian served in the U.S. Navy for three years, was honorably discharged in 1960, and went to Northern Michigan University and received a bachelor's degree in Applied Science in 1972.
He worked on the ore boats of the Great Lakes for several years, then went on to Purdue University and became a registered nurse, eventually specializing in hemodialysis.
Retiring to Wakefield in 2003, Brian was well known for his entertainment at various functions, gifted with a beautiful voice, wonderful guitar playing, and sometimes slipping in a touch of harmonica.
Brian is survived by his loving bride, Margo (Krznarich); a son, Mark, Ypsilanti; his mother, Clara; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; cousins; and many very special and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Isadore, in 1975.
At Brian's request, there will be no funeral – but someday if you're traveling down "Highway 7" and hear a guitar and voice with a Finnish accent, you will know Brian is with us in our hearts and will always be remembered for his love of the good earth, life and all it offered, and most of all, his beautiful and exceptional musical talent.
Lakeside Memorial Chapel of Wakefield is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent online at lakesidememorialchapel.com.
