Beverly May
Drahn
June 18, 1939 – January 30, 2025
BESSEMER, Mich. - Beverly May Drahn passed into the kingdom of Heaven on Jan. 30, 2025. She was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on June 18, 1939 to Ralph and Ethel B. (Grant) Sosinski. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1958. While she loved drawing and painting, she went on to earn her teaching certificate from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Bev served as a kindergarten teacher in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, for a year before marrying her soulmate, Richard (Dick) Drahn, on May 3, 1963. They began their life of laughter and love together in Iron River, Michigan, and moved to Bessemer when Dick was transferred there with the U.S. Forest Service.
In the early 70's, Bev returned to college in the evenings and earned an associates in accounting from Gogebic Community College. Because she was committed to staying home to raise their three children, Bev put her career on hold and didn't return to employment until the last of the "youngins" started school. She then commenced a more than 20-year tenure as the bookkeeper for Cassanova's Indianhead Ski Shop.
In retirement she and Dick enjoyed their annual "Snow Bird" pilgrimages to the Fernandina Beach, Florida, area. After losing Dick just weeks before their 50th anniversary, Bev threw herself into traveling with her children and friends. She also kept the books for Wesley United Methodist Church and the UMW.
Bev had a huge heart and donating to special causes and people in need was her passion. Therefore memorial donations may be made to the Ironwood St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
She is survived by three children Linda (Eric) Stocksdale, Pete (Molly) Drahn, and Laura (Peter) Miko; 11 grandchildren Jason, Corey, Elizabeth, Melissa, Jacob, Naomi, Ethan, Lauren, Noah, Ian, and Hallie; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick, the love of her life; three brothers and a sister; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood, on Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m., and celebration of life at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.
