WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Bernard Leroy Pedrin, 84, a long-time resident of Wakefield, passed away at home, early Friday morning, Sept. 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Bernard was born on April 1, 1942, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, a son of Bernard Anthony and Helen Margie (Biermaker) Pedrin.

On Nov. 4, 1961, Bernie was united in marriage to Karen Rachel Grinivic. They were blessed with five children. Bernard and his family moved to Wakefield, where he spent the rest of his life.

Bernard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he worked in Flint, Michigan. When relocating to Wakefield, he was a driller/blaster at White Pine Copper Mine. He concluded his working career at what he enjoyed doing the most, working on cars. He and his brother, David, owned and operated Ped’s Auto in Wakefield for many years.

His hobbies were playing Canasta and cribbage, reading Westerns and going to the casino. Bernie’s favorite thing to do was spending quality time with his family and friends, especially having parties and holiday celebrations in his basement bar. He will be remembered for his famous chili and egg-salad.

Bernie loved to watch Western movies, especially John Wayne and took pleasure listening to country music, especially Johnny Cash and Conway Twitty. He was a huge Detroit Tigers and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Bernie’s life was all about caring for his family and others. Our dad was a great man and is now with the love of his life his wife, Karen, and his daughters, Renee and Donna. Dad we love you more than words can say, you will be missed dearly. So this is goodbye for now, we will see you again - your loving family.

Bernie is survived by three children, Margie (Chris) Kobesko, Bessemer, Sandra (Frank) Romanowski, Hurley, Wisconsin, and Brian (Carrie) Pedrin, Hartsville, South Carolina; his son-in-law, Charles Jager, Bessemer; three sisters, Linda, Betty and Juiliane; 10 grandchildren, Anthony, Kaitlyn, Jason, Jennie, Kayla, Benjamin, Alicia, Sh’Quelle, Rahko and Jaylin; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a very special friend and family member, Brian Avery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Karen, on Nov. 11, 2010; two daughters, Karen Renee Jager, on Dec. 18, 2019; Donna Korpela-Pedrin, on Dec. 30, 2025; a great-granddaughter, Jayla; eight brothers, Edward, Howard, George, Lawrence, Raymond, James, Thomas and David; two sisters, Gloria and Mary; and his pets, Misty and Buster.

At his request, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield. A special thank you to our friend, Jerald Rocco, for his kindness, compassion, professionalism and support to our family through the years.
