MARQUETTE, Mich. – Bernadine T. Anderson, 75, a longtime resident of Ramsay, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.
Bernadine was born on July 9, 1936, in Lyons, Ill., the daughter of Julius Charles and Veronica Victoria (Bilecki) Chayka. She graduated from St. Ambrose High School in Ironwood in 1954.
On Jan. 29, 1955, Bernadine married Arvid H. Anderson at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer, Wis.
She enjoyed cooking and reading. Bernadine especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield.
Bernadine is survived by her husband, Arvid; a son, Dale (Judy), Hurley, Wis.; a daughter, Claire (Frank) Jewess, Ramsay; six grandchildren, Heidi Anderson, Luke (Carrie) Anderson, Stefanie Johnson, James Jewess, Jessica Anderson and Jason Anderson; a great-grandson, Trenton Johnson; and three nieces, Karen (Michael) Lakotos, Laural (Ronald) Kostac and Arlene (David) Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dolores Reinhard; and a grandson, Jeremiah Johnson.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 18, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Joy J. Adimakkeel, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate.
Burial will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
