WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Barry G. DuCharme, 80, a longtime resident of Marenisco, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in Wakefield.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1932, in Saxon, Wis., the son of Arthur and Anna M. (Ylitalo) DuCharme.
Barry served in the U.S. Navy for eight years during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged as a Boiler Technician Third Class on March 16, 1960, in Great Lakes, Ill.
He was a former truck driver for Kimberly-Clark. Barry was then employed as an assembler at Norco Windows in Marenisco for 16 years, and retired in 1996.
He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Marenisco, the Marenisco American Legion Post 523 and the Marenisco Volunteer Fire Department.
On Dec. 12, 1959, Barry was married to the former Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Alden in Bessemer.
He is survived by three sons, Barry J. (Chris), Marenisco, Timothy, Ironwood, and Keith, Summerville, S.C.; three daughters, Lorraine "Lori" (Mike) Perron, Marenisco, Tina (Randall Deiss) DuCharme, River Falls, Wis., and Cynthia (Frank) Raymond, Wakefield; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank (Carol), Iron Belt, Wis., Jim, Minneapolis, Minn., and Bob (Gail), Ironwood; a sister, June Sarri, Elkhorn, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Elizabeth, on May 16, 2000; and four brothers, Arthur, Earl, Jerry and Paul.
Friends may call at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., where the honor guard will be present from 5 to 5:45 p.m., and a vigil service will be prayed at 6 p.m.
Visitation will continue on Friday, Feb. 3, from 9 to 10 a.m., at St. Catherine Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., with the Revs. Joy J. Adimakkeel, Louis P. Bracket and Raymond F. Moncher, con-celebrants.
Luncheon will be served at the Marenisco Town Hall following the Mass.
Burial will take place in Marenisco Cemetery in the spring, where full military honors will be accorded.
