BESSEMER, Mich. – Barbara J. Simcoe, 70, of Bessemer, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield, after a year-long illness.

Barbara was born on Sept. 12, 1955, in Ironwood, the daughter of George and Joyce (Nydahl) Thomas. She graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood.

On June 18, 1977, Barbara married Dave B. Simcoe in Ironwood.

Barbara is survived by her significant other, Charlie Tirpik, his daughter, Jeannine Tirpik and her son, Chase Simcoe, all of Bessemer; her sister-in-law, Marylou Midbrod, Silver Bay, Minnesota; three nephews, David Simcoe, Wakefield, Bill (Dawn) Midbrod, Two Harbors, Minnesota, and Grant (Ricky) Midbrod, and their daughter, Rebekah, all of Iowa; a niece, Melissa Simcoe, and her daughter, Ella, both of Ironwood; a cousin, Sandy Nydahl; special friends, the Brown family; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave, in 2012; a brother, George Thomas; three brothers-in-law, Joseph Simcoe, Dennis Simcoe and Bill Midbrod Sr.; and many faithful dog friends.

At her request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility for their excellent care of Barbara during her time there.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to HOPE Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 261, Ironwood, MI 49938.
