Obituary

IRONWOOD, Mich. – Anton A. “Tony” Pertile, 89, a longtime Ironwood resident, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Nov. 27, 2025, at home.

Anton was born March 1, 1936, in Kimball, Wisconsin, the son of the late Guy and Rose (Vittone) Pertile.

He worked as a mechanic at Bingo’s Garage in Wakefield, and then as a foreman at Northern States Power Company until his retirement.

Known for being a hard worker, Tony could fix anything from a motor to power saws. He enjoyed racing snowmobiles, hunting, trapping, making firewood, gardening and wood carving. Tony never hesitated to help a family member or friend.

On May 18, 1957, he was united in marriage to the former Antoinette M. Rigoni. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2024.

Tony is survived by two sons, Gene (Tammie) and Tim (Sandy); a daughter, Anne (Mike) Manzanares; seven grandchildren, Samantha (Kevin) Love, Randie Ruby, Nick Ruby, Cory Pertile, Chad Pertile, Kohl (Alexis) Manzanares and Ty Manzanares; three great-grandchildren, Jaxon Ribich, Kylah Pertile and Lena Love; three sisters, Margaret (Don) Lonsway, Adele Vandenberg and Rosemary (Gary) Eskola; a brother, Bob; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Heather Pertile; a brother, Bill; a sister, Mary Pertile; and his brother-in-law, Henry “Hank” Vandenberg.

Out of respect for Tony’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 108 S. Marquette St., in Ironwood, with the Very Rev. Brian C. Gerber, celebrant.

Luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

Rite of Committal and interment for both, Tony and Antoinette, will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
