Obituary

LAKE GOGEBIC, Mich. - Anthony "Tony" V. Piencikowski, age 71, passed away at his home on Lake Gogebic, May 2, 2015. He was surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Tony was born June 19, 1943, in Kenosha, Wis. He is the son of the late Anthony J. and Martha T. (Johnson) Piencikowski. Tony lived on the family farm in Beaver, Wis. until he graduated from Coleman High School in 1961. He married Judith A. Rich of rural Peshtigo, Wis., in 1965. For most of his adult life, Tony lived in Oshkosh. Wis. He worked for Medalist Industries and then Patz Corporation until his retirement in 2009.

Tony married Sandy Polzin of Oshkosh, in 1999, and they moved to beautiful Lake Gogebic in Michigan's Upper Peninsula upon retirement. Tony was an active member in his Oshkosh community, belonging to the Oshkosh Lakeshore Lions Club and serving 20 years in the Army National Guard, retiring as a Master Sergeant.

In the Lake Gogebic community, Tony was on the Lake Gogebic Improvement Association Board, the Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce, Walleyes for Tomorrow Board, and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church of Bergland.

Tony is survived by his wife Sandy; his two daughters, Heather (Paul Bopray) Piencikowski and Tracy (James Gyrion) Piencikowski-Gyrion of Neshkoro, Wis.; a brother, Mark (Joy) Piencikowski of Pound, Wis.; two sisters, Catherine (Don) Coolidge of Appleton, Wis., and Ann (special friends Camie and Mark Koeppler) Piencikowski of Marinette, Wis.; and a sister-in-law, Barb Piencikowski of Oshkosh; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John Piencikowski.

There will be two services held in celebration of Tony's life. The first is at St. Ann's Parish in Bergland, MI, on Wednesday, May 6. Service at 4p.m. Eastern time, Fr. Antony Kalapura officiating. Friends and family may call at St Ann's beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET until time of service. A dinner at the parish hall will follow.

The second service will be held at St. Anne's in Coleman, Wis., on Thursday May 7, at 11 a.m. Central time, Fr. Nonito Barra officiating. Friends and family may call beginning at 9 a.m. CT until time of service. Interment will be at St. Leo's Cemetery in Pound. Following the interment, luncheon will be served at St. Anne's Parish. A memorial fund has been established.

Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., Wakefield, assisted the family with preparations.
