Obituary

WHITE PINE, Mich. - On Aug. 5, 2020, Anna Mae Reath went to be with her husband, Buster, and the Lord while at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield. She was 95 years old.

Anna Mae was born in Aurora, Wisconsin on July 26, 1925, the daughter of Leon and Isabelle (Terrian) Case. When she was a young girl, her brother, Leon Case, died during World War II as a bombardier.

Anna Mae was devoted to the Catholic faith while growing up and became a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in White Pine.

She had met and married Richard "Buster" Dewey Reath on June 18, 1945. They raised their five children, Danny, Dwayne, Anna Marie, Richard Jr. and Susan on the family farm in Vulcan.

Later, Anna Mae went to Northern Michigan University to become a licensed practical nurse. While she went to school to get her LPN degree, Buster began working at the White Pine Mine, and they settled their family down in White Pine.

Anna Mae started working at the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital as soon as she graduated from Northern. She retired after working there 20 years.

After retiring, she would travel to various places and enjoy being with her friends and family. She would have Buster bring her camper trailer down to the Ontonagon County Park on Lake Gogebic for the summer where she would relax and enjoy being with family and friends. During her life with Buster, they had a Christmas tree farm and greenhouse. She took pride in the plants she grew and would make Memorial Day baskets and planters along with Mother's Day flower pots. She was known for her green thumb and the beautiful planters and baskets she would create. Her family enjoyed the get together dinners along with the baked goods she made. She would also be busy with canning a variety of vegetables from their garden.

Anna Mae is survived by five children, Danny (Diane), New London, Wisconsin, Dwayne (Kathy), Vulcan, Anna Marie (Wes) Niemi, Green Bay, Wisconsin, Richard Jr. (Nancy), White Pine, and Susan (Paul) Kariotis, Brooksville, Florida.

She is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Diane; her parents; her brother, Leon; and numerous other family members.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield. Condolences may be expressed online at lakesidememorialchapel.com.
